A greater dialogue with the public
Welcome to my Rosen for D.A. blog. As I have been campaigning a lot of folks have been asking me some very specific questions about what kind of D.A. I would be. Probably the question I hear the most, “What do you think about Dolores Carr’s attempt to boycott Judge Bryant?” Here is the statement I released to the press.
“I believe in an independent judiciary that is fair to the prosecution and the defense. I do not agree with Judge Andrea Bryan’s ruling to dismiss the child molestation case against Defendant Augustine Uribe, nor do I agree with Judge Bryan’s findings about my colleague Troy Benson.
However, the proper and prudent course is to appeal Judge Bryan’s decisions to an appellate court. Instead, DA Carr overreacted and took the unprecedented step of pulling all criminal cases from Judge Bryan. Carr’s shortsighted decision to blackball Judge Bryan does nothing for child molestation victims, nothing for Mr. Benson, and nothing for my prosecutor colleagues going forward as we appear before an appropriately offended judiciary. Instead, Carr’s confrontational approach appears vindictive, threatens judicial independence, and will not further the interests of justice.”
I hope my thoughts on this matter are helpful and give you a greater understanding of my views about the criminal justice system and how I will conduct myself as the District Attorney.
